A 35-year-old man Kofi Avoka has allegedly killed himself after butchering his pregnant wife Irene Appiah, 27, to death.
The incident happened at Ankwa Dobro a Community near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
According to the Nsawam Police, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at about 5:45am a man name Foofo Atikple a resident of Ankwa Dobro reported at the Nsawam Police station that Kofi Avoka has murdered his wife Irene Appiah and the suspect attempted to kill himself.
Police immediately proceeded to the scene of the crime at Ankwa Dobro where the lifeless body of the deceased Irene Appiah was found lying on the floor of their bedroom in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on the face and the head.
Both the husband and wife were rushed to Nsawam Government Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation by Police revealed that both deceased were staying together at Doboro with their three children
However, on the fateful day about 4:30am, the children who sleep in a separate room heard their mother shouting for help but saw their father dash out of the room to a nearby house.
The neighbor rushed to the room man out of curiosity of deep wound found in his throat with blood oozing. To the shock of the witness, the woman was also lying in a pool of blood.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh told Mybrytfmonline.com that both bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation awaiting autopsy.
