An eight-unit of one-bedroom four-story block has been handed over to the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge, Accra.
Handing over the project, the Greater Accra Regional consultant Architectural and Engineering Services(AESL) Naa Kwarley Quartey, indicated that any structural defects detected within 6 months about their inputs would be fixed by the contractor.
The Director of Prisons in charge of Services and Technical, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, who received the keys to the building on behalf of the Director-General of Prisons, expressed her gratitude for the completion of the project.
“It is quite fulfilling to see this structure completed after several years”, she stated.
The project which started about 30 years ago, experienced a lot of setbacks due to lack of financial commitment but was revisited 2 years ago, culminating in its handing over.
Also in attendance were DDP Joana Fofo Tackie-Otoo (Mrs), Regional Commander and Commandant of the Prison Officers Training School, DDP Raphael Tuekpe, Officer-in-charge of James Camp Prison, ADP Millicent Owusu(Mrs), Officer-in-charge of Senior Correctional Centre, Rev. Canon CSP S.S Adama Okai and other Senior Officers within the Greater Accra Region.
Others were Maynard Korley, Regional Quantity Surveyor, Basil Akushie, Regional Architect, and Kenneth Akotua, Gwakunda Engineering (Contractor).
