The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region is set to introduce the municipal edition of Best Teacher Awards to honour hardworking teachers within the municipality.
The purpose for the Best Teacher Award scheme is geared towards motivating all teachers to work harder, improved upon the teacher-student relationship with the aim to increase the quality of education in the municipality to a higher level.
This was disclosed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Apaw Gyasi at a Meet the Press encounter with some selected Journalists in the Eastern Region.
He said the government remained committed to delivering efficient and effective governance which is evident through a number of policies and programs being rolled out by the government.
He indicated that, in pursuant with the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda, the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has since committed a lot of resources to improve education within the municipality.
He said 50 students within the municipality have been awarded full-time scholarships ranging between GHC 1500 to GHC 6,000 by the decentralized government scholarship scheme and are currently pursuing their respective tertiary education.
Mr Apau-Gyasi revealed that the Municipal assembly on its own has also supported 30 students to pursue further studies while 40 other students have also benefited from the Persons With Disability (PWD’s) disbursement.
“I can say my office has provided a lot of logistics and financial support to the educational sector in this municipality. We have distributed a number about one thousand furniture to some selected schools and also provided the infrastructure for some schools within the municipality”, he added.
Touching on the Nation’s Builders Corps (NABCO), the MCE said 626 out of 1860 trainee personnel have exited the various modules and have gained permanent jobs with the public sector institutions like the local government, the ministry of health, the Ghana education service, the ministry of food and agriculture whiles others have also started businesses on their own.
