Dr. Adinkrah-Keremeh Richard, the Medical Superintendent at the Tain District Hospital, has publicized to the people of Tain and its neighborhood that the old hospital will no longer be in an operation effective from September 6, 2021, since it doesn’t contain enough facilities.
A statement issued by the Medical Superintendent indicated that the district hospital will start its full operation at the New Tain District Hospital located on the Nsawkaw Wenchi road after Nsawkaw State Senior High School from September 6, 2021, to serve the people quality health care.
However, the 60-bed facility, worth $36.6 million, is expected to serve up to 10,000 people in the surrounding communities.
According to him, the new hospital has four operating theatres covering different specialties, a radiology department equipped with ultrasound, echocardiography, and x-ray machines, and a laboratory, it is also to serve as a referral center for cases from the non-sophisticated health care facilities in the area.
The district hospital also has a dental clinic, as well as cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatric, gynecology, and orthopedic departments for outpatient services, and 15 units of staff accommodation.
It has 1.2 kilometers of internal roads and 600 meters of covered walkways.
