The Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah has assured that the government will reconstruct all the damaged roads as a result of heavy rains.
Hon. Amoako-Attah said that the government is pleased that no life was lost as a result of the floods.
“No matter the extent of the destruction, the government will do whatever it takes to resolve it,” said Hon. Amoako-Attah.
Speaking to the press, Hon. Amoako-Attah assured the chiefs and people of the Northern Region that the government will deal with all affected roads as soon as possible.
On his tour with engineers from the Department of Urban Roads, Ghana Highways Authority, Department of Feeder Roads, and contractors to assess damage to the road network in the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West regions as a result of heavy rains and the opening of the Bargi Dam, the Minister assured that all affected roads will be reconstructed.
Meanwhile, the heavy Rains Have Affected Major Roads In The Tamale Metropolis And Sagnarigu Municipality, Including The Gbewaa High Street/Salaga Main Road, 2nd Ring Road, The Old Karga Road, The Fuo-Taha Main Road, The Kumbungu Main Road, And The Bolga Main Road.
It also affected some major storm drains such as the Gurugu-Gumani-Fuo and the Gumbihini-Nyanshegu stormwater channels.
