The Akyem Osiem Police in Abuakwa North Municipality in Eastern Region have arrested a copper cable thief
The suspect who identified himself as Kwaku Abu was pursued and arrested at about 2:00am Sunday dawn by residents of the Saviour community carrying quantities of stolen copper cables packed in a sack to an unknown destination.
He however claimed he stole the items from Akyem Apedwa and was going to sell them at Koforidua but did not have money to continue the journey.
He was handcuffed to a metal gate till the following morning when he was handed over to the police.
A plier, torchlight, and dried leaves suspected to be marijuana were retrieved from the Suspects.
Copper cable theft in buildings under construction have become a worrying phenomenon for building owners in parts of the Eastern region
A few suspects arrested in the region were established to be electricians by profession.
