Residents in Mpakadan Quarters, a Volta River Authority (VRA) Resettlement community in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region are being threatened by continuous flooding in the community due to collapsed drainage facilities.
The community is flooded by the slightest rainfall collapsing many buildings.
A collapsed building killed a student six years ago, according to residents.
Some of the residents have deserted the community for safety due to the chronic floods and erosion which continue to threaten the community.
The unmitigated erosion and floods have destroyed roads and streets in the community making it difficult for vehicles to ply.
The community is gradually being washed away by the floods hence residents are appealing to the government to immediately intervene.
Residents have meanwhile accused VRA Resettlement Fund of failure to attend to their needs.
