Eritrean actress Winta Gerezgiher who features in a long-running television series has been nominated for a continental award.
Winta is nominated for her role in Machelo which means a broom used to isolate the grain from chaff.
The series has been running for 92 weeks and depicts love, marriage, care and greed.
Winta has been nominated for the Sotigui Award 2021 to be held in November in Burkina Faso.
Eritreans online are excited about her nomination.
Other actresses nominated include Lungu Dyness Daisy from Zambia, Omar Abdi from Somalia, Ebijie Cynthia from Nigeria, Traore Brahima from Burkina Faso and Sarah Hassan from Kenya.
