The Presiding Member for New Juaben South, Michael Boadi Sarpong, has debunked the rumor that he had planned to pay huge losing bonuses to Assembly Members should they vote against Municipal Chief Executive nominee, Isaac Appaw Gyasi.
The renomination of Mr. Appaw Gyasi was heralded with controversy as some Assembly Members including those affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party were against it.
As a result, there is anxiety that, these Assembly Members may vote against the nominee today Tuesday, September 28, 2021, during his confirmation despite efforts made together with the Member of Parliament Michael Okyere Baafi to facilitate reconciliation with the aggrieved Assembly members.
Michael Boadi-Sarpong, an Assembly Member for the Old Estate Electoral area who waged tirade war against the renomination of the MCE over allegations of corruption and incompetence, was alleged to have planned to pay losing bonuses as part of his relentless agenda.
However, Mr. Boadi Sarpong has debunked those allegations stating that “a friend told me that he has heard that I Hon Michael Boadi is going to pay a losing bonus against Hon Isaac Appaw-Gyasi on his confirmation as the MCE. I want to tell my MCE (Hon Isaac Appaw-Gyasi) that he should go to sleep because I will not think or do such a thing but he should rather be very careful always with people and watch his back very well especially on those who say they love him”
He continued that “I want to again say boldly and plain that I don’t have time to even think of this evil thing which is in the minds and thought of some people and they go round saying it let alone to go and waste what the Lord has blessed me with on such unnecessary things. I always need money to invest for my family for the future and also to share with others. That is my objective and focus in life and it will continue to remain my objective and focus in life so far as the Lord continues to give me life”. Hon. Boadi Sarpong said.
Ahead of the confirmation exercise, this morning, Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered that the Assembly Member for Railways Electoral Area Daniel Ahiale who was against the renomination of the MCE, has however taken a u-turn position and now championing a strong campaign for 100 percent votes for the MCE.
One of the Assembly members shocked by the action of Daniel Ahiale told Mybrytfmonline.com that, each Assembly Member has been promised Ghc3000.
The New Juaben South Assembly has a composition of 51 members including the MP and the MCE. Isaac Appaw Gyasi needs a two-thirds majority to be confirmed.
