The Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Lower Manya Krobo Simon Kwaku Tetteh has been confirmed by the Assembly on Wednesday.
He received overwhelming endorsement of 42 out of 43 votes 1 vote was recorded as a spoilt ballot which represents 97.6% endorsement.
The MCE who was renominated by President Akufo Addo is one of the very hard-working and competent Municipal Chief Executives in the region.
In a related development, the President’s nominee for Yilo Krobo, Eric Tetteh, has unanimously been endorsed by 62 Assembly members Securing hundred percent votes.
Drama in New Juaben South
There was drama in Koforidua when Assembly Members sympathetic to the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, openly showed “Yes Votes” cast for the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for New Juaben South Municipal Assembly.
Assembly members affiliated to the NDC side shockingly showed their “Yes “votes openly to a former Eastern Regional chairman Bismark Tawiah Boateng who was present at the venue in clear violation of secret balloting.
Mr. Isaac Appaw Gyasi polled 46 out of 47 votes representing 98%.
The election held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, was supervised by Electoral Commission led by the Regional Director Madam Faith Amedzake.
Ike Appaw Gyasi who had the nod to serve for second term subject to removal by the President assured that he is going to spearhead massive development in the Municipality.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong called for unity and support for the MCE to enable him to execute his mandate.
So far, nominees for Birim South Okere District, Akyemansa and New Juaben South, Kwahu East, Kwahu South, Atewa West have been confirmed while that of Achiase District has been rejected.
The nominee for Atiwa- West, Seth Asante polled 95.8% of the total valid votes cast, Kwahu East and Kwahu South Nominees, Isaac Agyapong and Emmanuel Atta Ofori scored 100% respectively.
They have all been accordingly sworn into office.
