A one-day training workshop has been organized for media practitioners in the Eastern region on cyber security-related issues at Koforidua, the regional capital.
The workshop which was organized by the Cyber Security Authority and the Eastern Regional chapter of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) was to offer in-depth knowledge to journalists in cyber fraud.
Programs manager at the Cyber Security Authority, Aaron Felix Ofosu Boateng in his presentation said the Authority based on Act 2020 10(38) is ensuring sanity in our county’s cyberspace away from fraudsters and criminals.
According to him, fraudsters use sophisticated machines in their activities but were optimistic government support in regulating Cyberspace would go a long way to deal with such illegalities.
He, however, stated that cyber security is a shared responsibility and therefore urged the general public to support the Authority in securing safe cyberspace for all.
“The Authority has been embarking on several education and reach-out programs as we have done today with journalists from the Eastern region. We are going to Awudome SHS in the Volta region to also engage students to come Thursday so there is a lot been done by our outfit” Mr. Ofosu Boateng emphasized.
Mr. Maxwell Kudekor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association also commended the Cyber Security Authority for the step taken as it comes at a time of the digitization agenda of the government.
He was optimistic the training has broadened the knowledge of media practitioners on cyber security and its related issues to educate the general public as well.
Ghana has seen tremendous improvement in its digital space as the Akufo-Addo led government digitization agenda has enhanced thereby, posing danger to our cyberspace.
