The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced Moro Bashiru, driver’s mate to 60 days imprisonment in hard labour for stealing three bunches of plantain valued at ¢60.00, property of Her Worship Cynthia Blogogee (Mrs.), Presiding Judge at Asamankese District Magistrate Court.
Moro Bashiru, 29 years pleaded guilty when he was charged for stealing and he was convicted by His plea when he appeared before His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams.
General Sargeant Joseph Boamah, the prosecutor said the complainant is a Pharmacy Assistant who lives in a bungalow, Asamankese which is opposite to the District Court judge’s Residence.
He said on 21/10/2021 at about 2:00pm, the complainant was in his Residence when he spotted the accused person harvesting some plantain in the Judge’s backyard garden and the complainant sneaked in his direction and arrested him with three bunches of plantain.
The accused was escorted to the police station by the complainant for the official report and after investigation; the accused was charged with the offense and sent to court for prosecution.
