A 22 year old unemployed, Reuben Kumah has been sentenced to years’ imprisonment in hard labor by the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Reuben Kumah, the accused, was charged for defiling a girl under 16 years, contrary to section 101(2) of the criminal offenses Act 1960(29).
Prosecution officer, Sargent Joseph Boamah told the court that the complainant is a lotto writer, resident of Asamanketewa in Asamankese, and a biological father to the victim.
The prosecutor said the accused, for the past six months, has been a close friend to the victim, and the parents of the victim warned the accused to stay away from the victim but he turned deaf ears.
On 22/10/2021, the victim left home and never returned so the complainant and his brother went to the police station for Report and on reaching Amanfrom in Asamankese, the victim was spotted.
The complainant and his brother interrogated the victim and she mentioned Reuben Kumah’s name as the one who has abducted and defiled her.
After the narration, the victim was sent to the police station and the accused was later arrested as the medical report was issued to the complainant to send the victim to a hospital for further examination.
A medical report confirmed that the victim has been defiled and upon Interrogation, the accused admitted the offense and was sent to court for prosecution.
