The Asamankese Deanery Organizing Secretary of the Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O), Crusader Mensah Atakora David has unveiled an initiative dubbed “Operation Support your leader’s campaign” to solicit financial support for leaders in the Diocese of Koforidua.
Under the initiative, Crusader Mensah Atakora will solicit funds in November from members of the Organization, specifically those in the Diocese of Koforidua to donate an amount of Gh¢5.00 each or more via MoMo to support the leaders to run the Organization.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, 9th November 2021, Crusaders Mensah Atakora said the C.Y.O law (Article 8) stated that the C.Y.O shall be financed by its promotions and through voluntary donations, hence the campaign to solicit for funds.
Crusader Mensah Atakora, Who is a Broadcast Journalist in the electric media, said most of the Youth in the Catholic Church are dogging leadership positions due to financial challenges in the Organization and spending from the pocket of the leaders.
He said Deanery leaders who will lead this campaign will be given 30% quota and the rest 70% to the Diocese to run the C.Y.O and said all donations will be handed over to the Youth and Vocations Director in the Diocese, who is the Treasurer of the Organization per the C.Y.O laws and vowed to be transparent and accountable in the maiden initiative.
The leader of the C.Y.O said the campaign will be extended to the National Headquarters to refurbish the office and also support the National Management Council of the Organization.
The Journalist noted that if the leaders are overburdened financially in the discharge of their duties in addition to their family responsibilities, most will be inactive and that will affect the Youth in the church and called on members of the Organization to support the initiative, quoting “1 Timothy 5:17, The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
