A form two student of Ofori Panin Senior High School in Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region has died.
The student Andrews Tinkorang, a General Arts student died while receiving treatment at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua.
The student was allegedly punished by the Senior Housemaster on the instruction of the Headmaster despite his ill health which worsened his condition and was rushed to the hospital.
However, management of the school told Journalists on Friday, November 12, 2021, that, the student was only asked to pick dry leaves that had littered the environment as punishment after his phone was seized.
According to management, the student was a known sick student but his sickness worsened two weeks ago which the father who lives in Suhum took him to the hospital but died hence cannot be linked to the punishment meted out to him.
Meanwhile, the Board members of the school have met management which the MCE for Abuakwa North, Alhaji Omar Bodinga, and officials of National Investigation Burau (NIB) participated to understand what exactly happened.
