The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has stated that the government has employed an additional fifty-eight thousand (58000) nurses in the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Finance Minister, the government had no choice but to implement a critical intervention to save jobs and lives in the pandemic era.
He went on and averred that the covid-19 triggered sharp global supply changes as the lockdown and restrictions led to a reduction in demand and production level.
During the 2022 budget presentation on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in Parliament, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, said the government has provided 11 million face mask schools in both public and private schools in the country.
Mr Ken Ofori Atta affirmed that the covid-19 pandemic has ended and exposed the weakness in some of the infrastructure existent in the Education, Health, Economic life, Communities and everyday lives of Ghanaians.
Mr Ken Offori Atta averred that the government has supported households and businesses during the pandemic era.
“Due to the mass reopening of schools, the government has provided 11 million students and staff with essential supplies such as nose masks, liquid soaps, hand sanitisers and tissues,” he said.
“The government has tried its best to save the lives of Ghanaians and 2.8 million people were served with hot meals. The government also delivered 42700 families with food packages,” said Ken Ofori Atta.
