A man believed to be in his 50’s has been found dead at Mensah-Dawa, a farming community near Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region.
The man is suspected to have been killed by unknown assailants as he was found naked with a rope around the waist.
Speaking to the media, the Asesewa District Police Commander, Superintendent John Yeboah, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at about 3:40pm, the Chief of Mensah – Dawa, Isaac Kudadji came to report to the police that on the same day at about 2:00pm, his two sons went in search for firewood and found a dead body lying in the Dawa-Dor stream in the community.
According to him, the chief said he followed up for confirmation and indeed found the lifeless body of an unknown man in a decomposition state in the river.
Superintendent Yeboah said the police and NADMO officials were quickly dispatched to the scene and saw the body lying naked in the stream in a supine position with a cotton rope tied around his waist.
He said inspection conducted on the body however revealed no marks of physical assault.
The body has since been moved to the Asesewa Government Hospital Morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy to establish the cause of death to aid an investigation.
