The Manna Mission Incorporated as part of celebrating her 30 years anniversary has commissioned a Nursing College at Teshie in Accra to facilitate the training of Christ-centered professional nurses in the country and promote health care delivery.
Speaking at a ceremony to commission the facility, the President of Manna Mission, Rev. Dr. Seth Ablorh said “the nursing college will provide holistic training to individuals who will like to be nurses”.
He said the Mission realised out of their interaction with newly trained nurses at the Manna Mission Hospital that, there was a shortage of relevant skillset leading to the hospital often refreshing the skills of nurses through regular training.
“The Manna Nursing School, therefore, will close the gap by providing the relevant skillset for today’s healthcare delivery.” Dr Ablorh explained.
In relation to the selfless service the church was rendering, Dr. Ablorh appealed to the Government of Ghana not to tax Mission Hospitals because, “If you tax, the donors would send the goods to Europe, Ukraine, and other places where they are welcomed and deny Ghana the opportunity to save lives with such state of the art medical equipment.”
Rev. Ablorh said it was obvious Manna could add a touch to the training of nurses to make them more dedicated to the service of mankind and work with a compassionate care for the sick.
Rev. Ablorh informed that Manna would employ a Telemedicine technology which would enable nursing students at Manna to access lectures and training directly from Oral Roberts University (ORU), USA.
Commissioning the facility, the former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah said: “Today we are commissioning and dedicating the Manna Nursing College for the education of Christ-centered and compassionate nurses.”
Apostle Onyinah noted that, Manna Mission has taught Ghanaians Christ came to give life and give it more abundantly and played an essential role in the life of humanity, he added.
“This school will train and equip qualified and skilful nurses to take care of pregnant women, their babies, and the general population,” Apostle Onyinah said.
The President of the ORU, William Wilson, who was present at the commissioning, expressed his excitement.
“Rev. Dr. Seth Ablorh is an alumnus of the ORU and we are proud to support our alumnus across the globe. Through state of the art technology, we will deliver quality training to our students here in Ghana,” he said.
The Manna Nursing College is being run in partnership with ORU’s Anna Vaughn College of Nursing in the USA.
The Nursing College adds to the list of achievements of Manna Mission which includes a Hospital, a Basic School, A Bible College, and the over 20 churches in and outside Ghana.
