Business operators within the Lower Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo districts of the Eastern region are complaining bitterly about the recent power cut to the area and are appealing for immediate reconnection.
According to them, the indefinite power cut has adversely affected their activities, thereby reducing their daily sales.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has suspended its operations in the two districts following unpalatable banter that has come between the people and the power distribution outfit overpayment of electricity bills.
Meanwhile, some business operators have recounted its implications on their business as it has seriously hurt their daily sales as compared to the time they were enjoying constant power supply.
A shoemaker, Mr. Nobody told the reporter that, he is not able to raise anything close to ghc200 he used to record as daily sales due to the power cut.
“I used to make daily sales of ghc200 but since the power went out, I can’t even get ghc5 a day” he complained.
Other businesses such as cold stores, pharmacies, and provision shops have to resort to generators or risk losing their products to decay, a situation that brings additional costs.
“Our rooms are now like ovens. We can’t sleep in this hot weather anymore so we are begging ECG and the government to intervene as soon as possible” some residents also shared their experiences.
