A 20 year old unemployed, Samuel Koomson has been sentenced to three months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing cocoa pods in Awaham, near Asamankese, property of one Charles Domina.
According to the prosecution statement presented to the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams, Chief Inspector Richard L.Adukpo, the complainants are farmers whist the accused person is unemployed and all live at Osenase.
The prosecutor said the complainants have a cocoa farm in Awaham new road and on 10/12/2021 at about 7;30am, one of the complainants met the accused who packed several cocoa pods at the extra end of the farm and was breaking them.
He said the complainant confronted the accused about where he harvested the cocoa and the accused answered him that he harvested it from his father`s farm but later, the complainants detected that the cocoa was stolen from his farm and the other complainant`s farm.
The complainants later reported the case to the police who led the suspect and complainant to the cocoa farm for further investigation and the police identified that the complainant’s cocoa was stolen so they interrogated the accused and he admitted stealing the cocoa pods and was later sent to court for prosecution.
