It is public knowledge that one major challenge facing Ghanaian Farmers is post-harvest losses due to the unavailability of the market for their produce or the inability to preserve our foodstuffs, especially perishable ones, therefore, forcing farmers to accept cheaper prices from buyers.
Therefore it would be great news and a sigh of relief to Ghanaian Farmers to hear that there is a new company in the country to buy all their vegetables at competitive prices no matter the quantity and without any hustling.
This came to light when Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare Member of Parliament for Techiman North in the Bono East region paid a working visit to “Obapack Company” a factory at Tuobodom which is a big industrial revolution in her constituency and preserves or processes vegetables for local consumption and export some to earn Ghana foreign exchange.
Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare speaking with the media promised to take advantage of Obapack Company’s existence to get more youths into vegetable farming as a sure way of ending unemployment and also eradicate poverty in the Techiman North constituency which is predominantly an agricultural area.
On his part, Mr Kwadwo Obeng Aboagye General Manager of Obapack Company Ltd revealed that their factory currently processes onion and garlic but is unable to operate at its full capacity due to lack of raw materials or inadequate vegetables and therefore urged Ghanaians, especially the teeming unemployed youths to venture into agriculture.
He said the company has the vision to install more machines in the near future to process ginger, tomatoes, pepper and all other vegetables that are planted in the country, therefore, calling on the government to partner with their company to solve part of Ghana’s unemployment situation.
