A vehicular fire that is believed to have started on a section of the Tema – Accra Motorway near the Axel Weigh Bridge at about 0730 hours was reported via a telephone call to the Motorway Fire Station at 0750 hours on Monday, January 17, 2022.
The Firefighting Crew was then dispatched swiftly to the fire scene to help bring it under control upon a tip-off.
Upon arrival at the fire scene, the fire crew observed that the fire was in its advanced stage and had fully engulfed the Hyundai Sonata car with registration number GT 3446-21.
The fire had almost burned out the Hyundai Sonata car due to prolonged exposure to the effects of the fire.
The crew, according to the report quickly brought the fire under control and finally extinguished it.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the Hyundai Sonata had been on fire for some considerable amount of time before the fire was reported to the Service.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known but an investigation is still underway to unravel the origin and circumstances that led to the fire.
The entire Hyundai Sonata car and its contents are completely burnt by the fire.
Meanwhile, no casualty was recorded in the fire.
Speaking to the media after fire management, the District Fire Commander, DO III Richmond Vanderpuye urged the general public to always keep the emergency numbers (112/192) of the Service handy and ensure to promptly call the Service in times of fire and related emergencies for quick response.
