Agric Minister, Dr Kwaku Owusu Afriyie Akoto on Wednesday 6th January 2022 participated in the 73rd edition of the Annual New Year School and conference.
The conference was organised by the School of Continuing and Distance Learning of the University of Ghana.
It was a panel discussion held at the Cedi Conference hall and was sub-themed “Greening Ghana for Food and Jobs during the pandemic and beyond”.
In his address, the minister indicated the government’s interventions for greening Ghana for food and jobs.
He explained that the government over the last five (5) years has deepened its efforts towards achieving accelerated growth and transformation of the Agric sector in an inclusive and sustainable way.
“The focus of these efforts is to firstly, improve food security. Secondly, the efforts are aimed at creating jobs along the agricultural value chain” he stated.
Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto also stressed it is to improve productivity at the farm level. In addition, the government is aimed at ensuring the availability of raw materials for industry and improving the management of natural resources and the environment.
