The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for Juaben South Constituency, Hon Okyere Baafi has revealed that the Minority in Parliament is pressuring the Majority to push and pass the E-levy bill to facilitate development in the country.
According to him, the NDC’s Member of Parliament has accepted the E-levy introduced by the Nana Addo led-government.
He stated that the E-levy tax will not affect citizens negatively in their day-to-day mobile transfers.
At the Town Hall Meeting in Koforidua, Hon Okyere Baafi indicated that the E-levy will make Ghana self-dependent and also help combat cybercrime in the country.
He affirmed that the NDC MP’s are saying that the E-levy is good but they can’t come out publicly to educate the citizens on the E-levy bill.
Hon Okyere Baafi added that people who are against the Nana Addo-led government are preferring Ghana to IMF.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, a lawmaker for Madina in the Greater Accra region has stated that the minority in Parliament will continue to fight the passage of the levy because the government has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt why the levy should be introduced.
