The Akyem Kukurantumi Police in Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern Region has commenced investigation into a case of alleged suicide involving a 70-year-old pensioner.
The seventy-year-old pensioner allegedly committed suicide by drowning in a well.
The deceased identified as Kwadwo Owusu reportedly jumped into the well and got drowned at about 2:00am on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
An eyewitness alleged, he saw the man intentionally jumping into the well at those wee hours.
It took a joint team of Police, Fire Service, NADMO supported by some civilians helped to remove the dead body from the well and deposit same at the Akyem Tafo government hospital after taking inventories and examining the body.
This modus of suicide is very rare in Ghana. Mostly, suicide cases recorded are suicide by hanging.
