Families of Ghanaians students stuck in China (Wuhan) and environs have petition government to evacuate their wards from the country over the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
According to them, there have been several calls from the leadership in Wuhan and its environs to the government of Ghana to evacuate the locked down a student in China but nothing has been done yet.
They said, information circulating on social media that those affected by the virus are being executed in China in order to stop the further infection and petition the government to take urgent steps to bring their children stuck in Wuhan.
The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in mainland China has reached at least 1,868 with 93 more deaths in Hubei and five more in other parts of the country since the disease began in 2019 and identified in Wuhan capital of Hubie province in China bringing the nationwide total to at least 72,436.
The Spokesperson for the families, Mr Daniel Lartey said there have been several calls from the Ambassador to China, (Beijing) Hon. Edwin Boateng to help them evacuate the students but nothing has been done yet until the health Minister came to intervene not to evacuate them.
He said, most countries have moved swiftly to evacuate their citizens when there were less than 1000 recorded cases and fewer than 100 deaths and also 72,530 confirmed cases of infection and about 1,870 deaths.
The unfortunate decision by the Government of Ghana not evacuates its citizens has made us, the parents of these students, to use your media house to appeal to the Ghana Government as a matter of urgency to change its decision and evacuate these students back home.
Mr Daniel Lartey has given the government a 72 hours ultimatum for their children to be evaluated from China.
