Ghana’s Cultural Ambassador, Her Excellency Georgina Opoku Popularly known as “Asor” has urged the general public to patronize made in Ghana fabrics to help promote Ghana’s National identity and create employment.
Mrs. Opoku Georgina has thrown his weight towards the ‘Wear Ghana’ initiative by asking Ghanaians not to only wear Ghana , but to patronize everything Ghana.
“I’m throwing my support to the campaign and the initiative that Ghanaians should patronize made in Ghana goods and services from food, clothing, music, movies and anything that is produced in Ghana.
This initiative is to promote Ghana’s clothe culture and heritage by encouraging Ghanaians to wear made in Ghana’ clothes and other fashion accessories that are produced locally for both corporate and social functions.
The objective of the programme is to promote local textile industry and reward creativity in Ghana’s fashion industry with the aim of bringing our Ghanaian cultural heritage to light.
Speaking to the media after the maiden edition of wear Ghana festival 2022, held on Saturday 12th March, 2022 at University of Ghana. She stated the importance of promoting national identity as she encouraged institutions to adopt local fabric designs and patterns in their regalia, uniforms and paraphernalia’s.
The colorful event was held under the them “Sustaining Culture to create Employment through Textile, Fashion and style”
This is a collaborative program organized by The National Commission on Culture in the University of Ghana, Akuafo Hall Cultural group.
