The National President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo has urged the government to maintain nurse trainee allowances.
To her, the government should not pay attention to any calls demanding the cancellation of nurse trainee allowances.
Speaking to the media, Madam Ofori Ampofo said that: “I will not subscribe to any government abolishing the trainee allowance.”
She added that the nurse trainees make a lot of contribution in terms of service delivery and therefore the allowances that are given sustain them in terms of the kind of equipment they need as trainees.
Madam Ofori Ampofo indicated that the country must be able to generate funds to run the economy.
Meanwhile, the John Mahama-led administration cancelled teachers and nursing trainee’s allowances.
