There is a heavy tension currently alarming in the Bosome Freho district of the Ashanti region following caution to elected assembly members by the District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Danso , preventing them of using motor bikes issued to them by the Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development ministry through the Government for use in their respective electoral areas on official duties.
The informed decision by Mr Yaw Danso was taken due to the fact that the assembly members voted against the DCE’s choice of Presiding Member aspirant.
On the 10th of March , 2022, elections of the Presiding Member position was held in the Bosome Freho district where the incumbent PM, Hon Patrick Kwaku Frimpong, who double as the assembly member for Dajanso electoral contested with Hon Daniel Acheamfour , the assembly member for Nsuaem No. 2 , who was the choice of Mr Yaw Danso, the DCE.
After all the 30 elected assembly members have casted their votes , Hon Patrick Kwaku Frimpong, polled a total of 22 votes whereas his contender Hon Daniel Acheamfour secured 8 votes.
The electoral commission officer who supervised the election then pronounced victory for Hon Patrick Kwaku Frimpong, the incumbent PM and defeat to the DCE’s choice of candidate , Hon Daniel Acheamfour.
This development did not go well for Mr Yaw Danso because he has vented his anger on the assembly members for voting to maintain Hon Patrick Kwaku Frimpong as the Presiding Member of the Bosome Freho district assembly, hence the decision to seize motor bikes from the assembly members because their crime was that they did not vote for his choice of candidate.
The issue has affected the operations of the assembly members because it has becomes very difficult for them to be visiting their various electoral areas to embark upon their official duties which is affecting development in the district.
The assembly members by this calling on the Government through the Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development Ministry, NALAG president and all other key stakeholders involved in the distribution of motor bikes to the assembly members to as a matter of urgency retrieve the seized motor bikes from the Bosome Freho DCE, Mr Yaw Danso to enable the assembly members have them back to enable them embark upon effective official monitoring for their respective electoral areas to ascertain their challenges to channel them to the Government to address them.
According to some of the Assembly members, there is no development in the Bosome Freho district including Bobiem , the hometown of Mr Yaw Danso.
Reports indicate that, Mr. Yaw Danso has forcibly claimed ownership of a school land where he has already began putting up a building project for himself which is known to everyone in the Bosome Freho district.
Again soon after the election of the Presiding Member position which took place at the District assembly in Asiwa and Hon Patrick Kwaku Frimpong was declared winner after obtaining the Two – Thirds majority vote against his only contender Hon Daniel Acheamfour, the DCE , Mr Yaw Danso ordered Asiwa District Police Commander, not to allow the assembly members to take back their motor bikes which they sat on to the district assembly to vote , a situation which embarrassed all the assembly members.
The assembly members have therefore given out a 5 days ultimatum to the Government to get back their motor bikes to discharge their duties.
