There is acute shortage of desks at Obenyemi Presby basic school in Yilo Krobi Municipality in Eastern region forcing some students to sit on blocks to learn.
Few other students carry kitchen stools, dinning table ,plastic chairs from their homes everyday to school.
Some of the pupils who sit on blocks have been complaining about body pains and spinal cord effect due to poor sitting postures.
Information gathered indicate that, the school established in 1905 last received desk in 2003 .The few desks available have deteriorated and broken apart.
The inadequate desks and and deplorable infrastructure in the school has led to mass withdrawal of pupils by their parents .
With no end in sight to the challenges confronting the school ,trained teachers and National service personnel refuse to accept postings to the school.
Deep throat sources says, several letters presented to organizations and the Municipal Assembly for immediate attention have all proved futile.
