A delegation from a non-governmental organization, Engage Now Africa (ENA) has held a meeting with Members of Parliament for Afram Plains North, and Ayensuano Betty Krosbi Mensah and Teddy Safori Addi respectively.
The meeting was centered on effective collaboration to deal with increasing human trafficking cases, particularly in the fishing and farming communities in their constituencies.
Previous rescue operations by Police and NGOs were strongly criticized by the MP for Afram Plains North who accused the NGOs of not doing due diligence.
But the meeting seems to have ironed out the differences and enhanced effective collaboration to help rescue more children trafficked to work as fishermen and farm laborers.
The Afram Plains North MP stated after the meeting that “earlier today, together with Hon. Teddy Safori Addi we met with Engage Now Africa Non- Governmental Organisation. I’m happy to say that Engage Now Africa is the New Way to solve an old age problem which is Human Trafficking. As Deputy Ranking on Gender, Children, and Social Protection, I embrace this organization, and very soon together with Engage Now Africa we will fight any Human Trafficking in the country”.
On his part, the MP for Ayensuano Teddy Safori Addi said “Engage Now Africa, is a Non- Governmental Organisation with a focus on tackling the human trafficking menace on the African continent. As members of parliament, we will continue to work together in the fight against Human Trafficking in our country and the subregion.
The purpose of Engage Now Africa is to heal, rescue, and lift vulnerable individuals, families, and communities to help them become self-reliant through strategic programs, projects, and partnerships.
The NGO empowers individuals and families in Sub-Saharan Africa to rise above extreme poverty.
