The District Chief Executive for Ayensuano in the Eastern region Josephine Ansah Awuku Inkoom has cut sod for construction on Amanse to Aboabo which is flooded every rainy season due to the lack of a proper bridge.
The existing bridge is deplorable and cannot contain the high volume of river hence causing an overflow of the river cutting off the two communities.
Pregnant women, teachers, nurses, students, farmers, and traders become stranded whenever the road is flooded.
Completion of the construction of the double 4 by 4 box culvert bridge will fix this challenge.
Speaking to the media during the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Josephine Ansah Awuku Nkoom said the situation was worrying therefore it compelled the assembly to send an estimate to the Minister of Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako Atta which was approved subsequently.
She said the assembly is optimistic that by six months the project will be completed.
Mr. Seth Osei Nkatia, the Regional Manager of Feeder roads explained that the assembly through the director of feeder roads received approval from the road ministry hence it has necessitated that Feeder roads together with the assembly hands over to the contractor for the commencement of work because all the materials required for the work are available.
Charles Walter Queye, the contractor and also the CEO of Cheswel Company Limited promised that even though the current rains will disturb the work as an Engineer they will adopt strategies to enable them to work hard quickly as soon as possible and make sure the quality of work is done within the expected period.
Nana Ansah Ayaw, who is an Amanasehemaa and also a farmer was enthused about the new development and requested that work should be done as soon as possible to ease the burdens and challenges of the market women and the farmers in Amanase and its adjoining areas.
