The President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, has said the government must pay members what she describes as ‘Emotional Allowance’.
To her, if CLOGSAG is demanding neutrality allowance, then the nurses and midwives also deserve ‘Emotional Allowance’ as part of their activities.
Mrs Ofori-Ampofo explained that members go through various stress and emotional challenges in their line of duty hence, the need to pay them to allowance to compensate them.
Speaking at the Global Nurse celebration, Mrs Ofori-Ampofo said they will table it for consideration in their next negotiation table for deliberations.
“We could be entitled to emotional allowance considering the kind of things that we go through in our duties”, the President stressed.
Mrs Ofori-Ampofo said, “and the kind of stress that we go through, I think we need such allowance”.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “A Voice to Lead—Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health”.
