Ghanaians have been cautioned traveling to Gao and its surroundings in Northern Mali of West Africa due to insecurity in the area.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration dated 18th May 2022, states that there have been several executions and killings of travelers, especially Christians in that area including Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians living in Gao have also been advised to leave immediately for their safety and security.
However, the ministry emphasized that the Government of Ghana has limited power to evacuate Ghanaians from the area but provided contacts that can be reached for assistance.
