Dr Smart Sarpong, Lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University has predicted a convincing win for the incumbent Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Benard Antwi Boasiako in the party’s internal elections.
Chairman Wontumi as affectionately called, is heavily contested by Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (Chairman COKA) and the other two contenders.
Digesting the polls to the media, Dr Smart Sarpong indicated that Chairman Wontumi is likely to attain 57.8% with Odeneho Kwaku Appiah expected to attain 36.5% on average.
He stated the contest is between Chairman Wontumi and Odeneho Appiah with the rest not likely to pull any surprise in their performance.
“Chairman Odeneho is likely to get 40% of the total votes if he intensifies his last clean-up campaign from now till the time of voting” he stressed.
Meanwhile, information reaching the news desk revealed the venue for the elections has been moved to the Baba Yara Sports stadium after complaints about an earlier suggestion by the Election Committee of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
