As part of her efforts to contribute to the menstrual health of the girl-child in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day, Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan embarked on Menstrual Hygiene Advocacy Campaign in selected communities.
The beneficiary communities were; Abura Dunkwa, Saltpond, Essarkyir, Gomoa Potsin and Senya Beraku.
The Menstrual Hygiene Advocacy Drive is geared towards distributing 7,000 sanitary pads, 2 each to 3,500 young girls as well as educating the beneficiary girls on their menstrual health, personal hygiene and reproductive health issues.
Also, the campaign is intended to address challenges, discrimination, taboos and other injustices against women for the mere fact that they menstruate.
Additionally, the campaign is to create the needed awareness among the people that menstruation will be seen as a normal phenomenon.
She was grateful to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Ghana and Mr Richard Sam for their unflinching support towards the actualization of this project.
