New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Central Region have taken a swipe at the party’s Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin Jnr over the postponement of the party’s election to elect new Executives.
They are, however, calling on the embattled Chairman to pay for the cost incurred in preparation for the Regional Delegates’ Conference last weekend.
The Central Regional elections of the NPP have been postponed following a Court injunction by the Cape Coast High Court due to issues surrounding the constituency elections in the Ekumfi constituency.
In a statement, the aggrieved delegates stressed that the postponement of the elections has affected them financially as they had earlier booked hotel rooms, cooked food down and also fueled their cars before the notification.
They stated “We have risked our lives to travel the distance to Dunkwa-on-Offin in advance to prepare the grounds, and it cost us so much. We are in the middle of nowhere, for those of us who have covered a lot of kilometres on route to Dunkwa-on-Offin and had to return. All of these have cumulated to the cost”.
“What was Kutin thinking that the insensitive and cruel disregard for others in the party would go unaccounted for? Was he thinking the party in Ekumfi could not secure a judicial review of his unilateral decision not to let them conduct their Constituency level elections?” the delegates queried.
Delegates insisted they have lost so much owing to the callousness of over-mighty subjects in the party in the region led by its Chairman.
“Now, you see your seize. A motion for an injunction which is technically not an injunction in itself has scared you well enough to mess up a whole delegates Conference” Delegates ridiculed.
