Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana wants all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the country to earn their own money.
According to the Vice President, MMDAs must find new ways to generate cash internally in order to reduce their reliance on the federal government.
Dr Bawumia, speaking at NALAG’s 21st Biennial National Delegates Conference in the Ashanti region, asked MMDAs to boost revenue levels and raise the necessary internally produced cash to supplement other sources of financing from the central government.
Dr. Bawumia gave a presentation to the MMDAs on how to employ human resources within their jurisdiction to bring about essential development, create jobs, reduce poverty, and raise income levels.
He advised NALAG’s leadership and members to collaborate with all necessary state and non-state entities to guarantee rapid development at the local level.
Dr. Bawumia also asked the NALAG to speed up the development process by combining innovation, dialogue, and engagement with their peers.
