The North Tongu-TIAST Cassava Starch Factory project in the Volta region has finally signed an agreement with Chinese investors, the Member of Parliament for the area has revealed.
In a Facebook page post, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasised that 5,000 acres of farmland were secured for the project, which was spearheaded by the lawmaker with the support of the Assembly, development partners and the people of the constituency.
The MP took the initiative to help deal with the increasing unemployment rate in the area as the factory is expected to employ more than 2,000 workers when completed.
Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa under the Serving North Tongu initiative has implemented many programs and projects that have in turn benefited the people in the area in terms of health, education, security, food safety, employment creation and many others since been the lawmaker some years ago.
