The Chief Executive Officer National Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Okoh Boye has paid a working visit to the Honourable Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong at his office in Koforidua, the Regional Capital on Tuesday, 21st June 2022.
In a brief statement, Dr. Okoh Boye indicated that the visit to the region was in line with his planned program to ascertain first-hand information from the regions, interact with staff, and other key stakeholders geared toward improving service delivery provided by the scheme.
Emphasizing the importance of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Oko Boye said even though the scheme has challenges, its overall contributions to quality health delivery in the country’s health care system cannot be underestimated.
He appealed to the minister to continue to educate the people within the region to renew their cards whenever they expire so that they could continue to enjoy the full benefits of the program.
Hon. Acheampong thanked the CEO and his team for the visit and assured them that the Regional Co-ordinating Council would continue to offer all the necessary support to the scheme to ensure its sustainability.
He said health is paramount in every society. He also acknowledged that the renewal of membership cards and the registration of new members were the surest ways to ensure its sustainability.
He, therefore, pledged his commitment to continue to encourage the people in the region to renew their cards regularly.
The CEO was accompanied by some of the Board Members and Senior Officers of the authority including the Board Chairman, Dr. E. K. Kwarko, Deputy CEOs, Yaa Pokuah Baiden, Vivian Addo-Cobbiah, Joyce Konoke Zampare, Board Member, Dr. Edward Cudjoe, Regional Manager.
