Akyem Tafohene, Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV has expressed appreciation to Mobile Telecommunication Network MTN for their usual support to the Akyem kingdom during their festivals.
Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV eulogized MTN Ghana for its contribution to development in Ghana, especially the Akyem Kingdom.
This came to light when the company on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, as part of its corporate social responsibility presented a cheque to Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to support this year’s Ohum festival.
The donation also includes MTN souvenirs, recharge cards and drinks.
MTN Ghana also donated an amount of GHS 5,000, GH 500 airtime, and drinks of a hamper to Atihene, Barima Ati Awuah Kwako II, and Akyem Tafohene, Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV respectively.
According to Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV MTN can only continue to support the Ghanaian people when it gets to profit from the business they are engaged in and therefore “I urge all Ghanaians to do well to patronize the brand and get access to the services it provides so seamlessly”.
Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV receiving the donation expressed gratitude to the leading mobile telecommunications network in Ghana for supporting the celebration of the festival over the years.
He stated: “This is not the first time you are donating to us but the 2022 edition has been exceptional. We have embraced your donation and we promise to be with you always”.
Receiving the items on behalf of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Kibihehe Osabarima Marfo Kwabenane commended MTN for its continued support of the Akyem monarch over the years and expressed his profound gratitude for their kind gesture.
Again, Atihene, Barima Ati Awuah Kwako II receiving the items, commended MTN for the kind gesture and the support given to all cultural events in the country.
Speaking to the area sales manager for the Eastern, Oti, and Volta regions, Mr. Stephen Asare noted that the Akyem kingdom, he said, has been very instrumental in MTN leadership in the mobile telecommunication business in this country hence, the donation to the Akyem Monarch ahead of Ohum festival.
“The Akyem Monarch has contributed immensely to our success and as part of our social responsibilities, we are here to show our appreciation to the kingdom for the nice reception he has given MTN in his kingdom in the celebration of this year’s Ohum festival”. He stated.
Mr. Stephen Asare acknowledged the importance of festivals in the country hence the decision to support this year’s Ohum celebration.
“MTN as a telecommunication network supports about 22 festivals in Ghana with Ohum being part,” he indicated.
Mr. Stephen Asare in an interview after the donation cautioned mobile money users to be watchful of fraud, advising ‘no one should make public their mobile money pin and for that matter, if you have not initiated any transaction and you are prompted to approve any message, it is better to decline any message sent you.
Mr. Stephen Asare later called on Ghanaians to use the Company’s new app, MTN Heritage App to showcase the country’s beautiful culture to the world.
The MTN Heritage App is a knowledge-gathering application by MTN for sharing and showcasing information on Ghana and its culture.
Mr. Stephen Asare noted that the country has been endowed with rich culture, usually displayed during the celebration of traditional festivals and they need to be showcased.
He has therefore invited the general public, especially the youth to share short videos and pictures of traditional drumming and dancing and other cultural performances during festival celebrations and other material cultural heritage of Ghana via the app as a way of promotion and preservation.
“We encourage you all to download the Heritage App and share your culture with the rest of the world”, he stressed
