The National Energy Transition Committee has met with the Parliamentary Select Committees (PSC) on Mines and Energy, Transport, Environment, Science Technology and Innovation, Lands and Natural Resources as well as Finance.
This again is part of broader consultation aimed at getting a national energy transition plan which is national in character.
In the remarks of Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor told colleague MPs on the various committees of the crucial role they have to play by way of input towards the finalization of the national energy transition plan.
He indicated that Ghana is a signatory to the Paris Agreement as well as other international protocols and thus requires us to achieve net zero carbon emission by 2050.
He also added that it is imperative for us to plan and strategise to steer our country towards a low-carbon economy while ensuring economic growth.
“I have no doubt that the submissions of colleague MPs by way of questions, suggestions and contributions will go a long way to ensure that Ghana’s quest for a fair and an equitable transition will be realised” the minister stressed.
