Ace Ghanaian Legal practitioner, Lawyer Doctor Maurice Ampaw claimed that reasonable politician will not go in for Ghana Educational Trust Fund (GETFUND) scholarship whiles they already have enough money that can support themselves in terms of education.
In an interview with Afia Pokua Ahwenee, who is the host of ‘Efa Wo Ho’ morning show on dadi FM on Accra private base radio station explained that the GETFUND is an educational policy that has the goal of awarding scholarship for the needy to help them further their education in tertiary level.
But GETFUND is not meant for ministers and other public figures who already have enough money to support themselves in terms of education and other needs.
“I will never go in for scholarship from GETFUND whiles I no very well that I have the money to do anything I want”. He stated
For that matter, I was very surprised to hear some names who have been given the scholarship like Napo who is as rich as the parent’s other politicians who we knew that they are from a rich home.
Outlining his concern, he claimed that all politicians are very greedy to the extent that, they always want to have every good thing to themselves example is those 80 politicians who go in for that scholarship and I still can’t imagine with those names I heard. He added.
Likewise, he said that he knows of some politicians both NPP and NDC, who are from poor families and now through polities, they are doing well in terms of finance. evidence, I sat down with some of them in school and paying their school fees and another incentive was a big blow to them and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is one of them who deserves the scholarship.
He then urged the government to collect all those money from the politicians who have been given the scholarship and pay additional money to it as a penalty.
