Dr John K. Kwakye, the Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has hailed President Akufo-Addo’s massive investment in Agric Sector and the introduction of Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) intervention.
According to him, the country is a net exporter of foodstuffs with food prices now at its lowest for decades due to this intervention.
Addressing the media to react to critical issues raised in the president state of the Nation’s Address, Mr.Kwakye said, in spite of the high proportion of labour that was tied to agriculture, productivity remained low.
He added that the government did not spend enough on physical infrastructure, it spent a lot of human capital, including; the free Teacher Trainee Allowance, Nursing Training Allowances and the Nation Building Corps (NABCO).
Dr Kwakye referred to President Akufo-Addo assertion of his government inheriting an unhealthy, depressed and destabilised the economy and had in the last three years, returned the economy to growth and stability.
