Expectations of Ghanaians ahead of Monday’s Mid-Year Budget statement to Parliament cannot be over emphasised considering the current economic crisis of the country.
Many are expecting pragmatic policies and programmes government intends to lay down to help address the economic challenges incurred by the country over the past years.
Ghana’s Finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta will on Monday, 25th July 2022 afternoon present to Ghana’s Parliament the mid-year budget statement ending December 2022.
The presentation comes after negotiations with the IMF for a financial bailout to help amend the state of the dwindling economy, a situation many describe as a failure on the part of the government.
However, a random interview with a section of the public is expecting Government to assure Ghanaians of hope via policies and interventions to help cushion citizens who are mostly victims of the economic mess.
Others are also expecting a reduction and expel of some taxes imposed on the various sectors of the economy as a way to reduce the cost of living and also lessen the burden on Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, social media have also taken a swipe at the presentation yet to be delivered, alleging that nothing would come out of the budget review considering the bad state of the economy.
Some also told the reporter “We are even praying that the IMF bailout does not affect the Free SHS and other policies introduced by the Akufo-Addo-led government. Let’s wait and see because we can’t trust this government anymore”.
