Some Ghanaians who are yet to have their sim cards registered have hailed the Communications and Digitalisation minister, Ursula Ekkuful for the extension of the exercise deadline.
According to them, the decision by the minister would afford them the opportunity to register their sim cards before the latest deadline given.
The Sector minister on Sunday, 31st July, 2022 at a Press Briefing by the Information ministry indicated the exercise has been extended to September ending, 2022.
She gave several reasons been the causes for the third extension of the exercise with the major ones being inability of some Ghanaians to receive their Ghana Cards, years and months after registration.
She, also, stated that some telecos have complained some customers owes Quick loans, hence their intentional decision not to register to write off the loans but she warned defaulters to pay to avoid any regret later.
Speaking to the reporter a day after the announcement by the minister, a section of the public commended the minister for having a listening ears to hear their requests.
They were of the view the decision will permit them to do then needful thing to avoid their sim cards been disconnected after the deadline.
Others also took on the National Identification Authority, providers of the Ghana Card of their failure to provide registrants with their cards years and months after applying for the national identity.
There are other school of thought that suggest to Government to extend the exercise to the end of the year, 2022 to give those yet to have their cards enough time to register their sim cards as such.
