A recording officer at the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern region has been sleeping in the open behind his household items for almost a month after his landlord secured an eviction order from the court to throw him out.
Peter Ansong, has since been sleeping at the roadside of Koforidua -Trom junction 6 community.
According to the landlord who only identified himself as Kofi, Ansong was similarly evicted from a nearby house some three years ago and the wife divorced him thereafter.
Then later turned a storeroom he rented to them into a sleeping place which he allowed because it was an emergency.
However, Ansong has not refused to vacate the storeroom nor has he been paying rent but continues to verbally attack him and the mother without provocation.
The landlord said, his daily tantrums of Ansong became embarrassing and hence served notice to him to vacate the storeroom but he refused, rather, Ansong purchased about 20 padlocks to lock the storeroom whenever he goes out
The landlord initiated court action for an evacuation order which Ansong refused to appear before the court until the Day of Judgment when he again insulted him in the courtroom.
After six months of legal procedure, the Koforidua Magistrate Court “B” finally granted the eviction order but Ansong still refused to vacate hence a bailiff and Police were used to enforce the court order to throw him out of the room.
But has since refused to leave the precincts of the house.
Peter Ansong was reticent when approached to speak on the matter given that his health and life are at risk in sleeping outside.
He however said, “I have informed my superiors. The Regional Minister is aware the MCE is aware. I am hopeful something will be done by next week”.
Some residents believe Peter Ansong is severely depressed and hence needs psychological therapy.
According to them, his behavior is weird hence runs into problems with landlords wherever he rents a room.
