Kwesi Pratt Jr, a seasoned journalist, has expressed concern about the freedom provided to those with mental health issues to roam the streets.
He voiced his worries during a recent incident involving a psychotic woman and an unnamed man on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
“Let’s get people with mental problems off the streets,” he asserted.
At the Kwame Nkrumah Circle on Monday in the late afternoon, the woman is said to have killed the man with a stone.
The dead was a motorbike passenger utilizing the interchange when the woman, for some reason unknown, pulled him down, according to eyewitness testimony reported by Daily Guide Network.
As soon as he collapsed, the woman rushed to him and began beating him with a big concrete stone till he bled to death.
After the event, the Police intervened by taking her into custody to stop the mob from lynching her.
Mr Pratt requested the appropriate authorities to treat mentally disturbed people on the streets with seriousness, noting that they pose a significant risk to commuters. He was saddened by the man’s unexpected death.
He urged the Ghana Health Service, the Ministry of Health, and psychiatric facilities to remove the mentally ill from the streets and provide them with appropriate medical care.
