A 16 year – old boy, Kwesi Akufo-Addo who is suspected to have drowned in a stream in Nkwanta, a surburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region has been pulled off in the Brafor Stream.
He drowned after challenging his friends that he can swim in a river than any other person in the area during an argument.
The victim’s friends reported the case to the Nkwanta Unit Committee member, Mr Kwesi Amfoh when they realised the deceased was drowning.
The Unit Committee Member and the linguist, Okyeame Okanto proceeded to the scene but the deceased was already drowned.
Nana Essandoh, the Chief of the area in an interview with Bryt fm’s Eric Owusu Amponsah narrated the body of the decaesed was found after pouring of libation.
He said, the victim died because he challenged his friends that he can swim in a heated argument, the most dangerous thing everyone must desist from it.
“The body of the deceased (Kwesi Akufo-Addo) was found in the water just before 6:25pm and was discovered dead” the Chief said.
However, information gathered reveals the victim challenged the Brafor stream whiles fishing which has resulted his sudden demise.
Police personnel deployed to the scene have since conveyed the body to the Saltpond Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy while investigation continues.
