Pastor Professor Robert Osei-Bonsu, President of the West Africa Division of The Seventh Day Adventist Church and Chancellor of Valley View University (VVU) has revealed that the education sector especially the tertiary institutions has been seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, shifting from regular face-to-face studies to online classes has resulted in a drastic reduction in enrollment which has seriously affected the finances of private Universities coupled with its accompanying challenges therefore Government should intervene.
Pastor Professor Robert Osei-Bonsu made this disclosure at the Techiman Campus of Valley View University in the Bono East Region when 548 students graduated at the 28th Congregation ceremony held under the theme; “Upholding excellence, integrity and service: a catalyst to rising above the effect of a Pandemic”.
For his part, Professor William K. Koomson the Vice Chancellor of Valley View University elaborated on the four (4) year vision for service, integrity and service of the Institution.
He challenged students to be weary of those attributes in order to stay relevant for the job market after school.
Meanwhile, Dr Prof. Emmanuel Bismark Amponsah the Rector of Techiman Campus of VVU advised the graduates to form strong Partnerships to create jobs for themselves rather than going back home to join the unemployed Graduates Association.
Dr Christian Addai-Poku the Registrar of the National Teaching Council who was the Guest Speaker at the ceremony commended VVU for producing quality graduates especially Teachers with higher standards to boost Ghana’s educational system.
